>>> SOUTHERN HIGHLAND FAMILY DAY <<<
Hello all and sundry and welcome to the first of a two part look at our trip to Bowral and Berrima on Monday.

What started out as a sunny day slowly declined into an overcast but pleasant one, later including a few showers. Still nothing was going to dampen a great day in that wonderful part of the country.

Lunch was had it a lovely Berrima park while my more recent fetish for antique shops was also attended to while driving around, one actually netting me 288 back issues of a very interesting international railway magazine.

Coming home we followed the line to Picton where we popped in to see Colonel and Anna's new place of residence, before the first of many time trials were carried out between there and our home.

Below are photos from the Berrima portion of the trip.

Some of the local shops selling their goods at over inflated tourist prices.

Not sure if this was the local brothel or not!

Ahhhh Southern Highland life!

"So much junk - so little money"

The main street of Berrima, a lovely little Southern Highlands town with its livelihood based on tourism, weekends being the busiest time.

Signs for sale!

My interest in closed branchlines lead me to a quick search of the old coal line from Berrima to Medway Colliery. Was surprised to find the colliery still seems to be in action, trucks now replacing the railway.
