"Another time, April Boy came in without ID. He started singing “diko kayang tangapin”, made an “X” gesture w/ his arms & threw away some baseball caps… & we cashed his check. So, what can you do to prove that it is you, and only you?"

With a trip pending, opportunity was had last night to celebrate Tom's birthday at our place.

With our pending (hmmm getting to be overused word) move away from home, parties in the 'G-Spot Karaoke Rooms' are on borrowed time - something that, given a huge amount of unwanted memories, is not necessarily a bad thing - actually its a very good thing.

Change is not something the Aussie Aswang normally embraces, but that over the the forthcoming months shall be greatfully embraced.

This selection of shots come from our second day, which saw us attend a meeting of FILDAC (Philippine Diecast Aircraft Collectors) before heading down to Multinational to photograph the real thing, then on to Pasay Road station in time to witness a massive storm and train delays due to flooding at Espana.

~~ OPERATION ADOBO 2011 ~~

Part 1

Yes, it has been a while since I last posted. The endless demands of work, declining interest in things Philippines and, well, a general feeling of not giving a monkeys testical, pretty much led to a lack of desire to come on here and ramble on to my many disenchanted fans.

I do thank those who have emailed me to enquire of my whereabouts, however the rumour that I moved to North Korea to become a male prostitute is just untrue.

In coming months we will take a photographic look at moments during the journey to Manila with MrX - a journey that was primarily to attend to immigration related business.

One of a kind, this is the sole blue Virgin Blue (or Virgin Australia if you must) jet and at the time of photographing was due to soon go in for a repaint into the boring new corporate white livery.

Although, at time of typing, it was still flying around the country.

MrX seemed a little more excited than usual during this flight. I am unsure of the source for such excitment, though I do have a rough idea. :-)

Take off was from the third runway, over Botany Bay and Kurnell, before turning west to fly out over Bathurst, Bourke, Mt Isa, before turning towards Katherine and Darwin.

Darwin - the first time I have been to this northern outpost of Australia.

Sadly it was just a 2-3 hour stopover enroute to Manila, but still we got a good look during landings and take off.

Am sort of thinking of an extended stay here during a future trip.

Ahhhh yes, you know when you are in Manila :-)

~~ DEVAUGHN'S 2ND BIRTHDAY BASH ~~

Hello G-Spot Barkada fans, and those who crave further updates from the 'Aussie Aswang'.

Yes things have been quite, so you would be forgiven for thinking we had all died in a freak underpant related accident.

However such is not the case. We do, afterall, take underpant safety very seriously, and have just been busy with outside work and other commitments.

So it was that we were all awaiting the arrival of a drunken karaoke party on August 27th which, in order to retain some sort of standards of decency, we disguised as a child's second birthday.

That child be Devaughn.

Now the evening was to be special for many reasons, not the least being that we were finally able to find out how you actually spell Devaughn. Until now, this was achieved by the use of letters D, E,V,O and N, which actually brings you to a meat based product, but seemed to be acceptable on cards and the like.

It was also special as the first time I have been able to meet many of the attendees outside of the shop - one notable inclusion being the extremely fun Dori (who has a longer name that will likely also take me two years to learn).

It is indeed great to experience people in a party atmosphere, to see the real people and get to know them better. Indeed I think I may have shocked some who thought I was straight and quiet little (well not so little) shop boy.

Anyway following the celebrating of SMR10's (a historic steam locomotive for any of our readers who may be wondering) 100th birthday, we all retired to Australia's best pub (as historic as #10 herself) in beautiful downtown Neath.

Joined by a few local friends, an awesome meal, drinkies

and gossiping session took place.

~~ BADGERYS LOOKOUT - TALONG ~~

The Aswang has been ferreting around the Southern Highlands again, exploring new locations and getting as far out of the city as possible.

This lovely, and well well kept, secret is called Badgerys Lookout and it situated around 6 kilometres east of the small town of Talong.

Twas bloody freezing cold at the time, but well worth the discovery.

CANBERRA - It ain't a name that conjures up images of endless action filled nights, heart racing entertainment and the first on everyones holiday listing, indeed unless you are into heaps of reasonably cheap porn and fireworks, or have some strange fetish for red headed prime ministers with weird voices, I suppose there is no real reason you would want to head there at all. Even then, it would probably have to be on the cheap, even a free holiday won, after an insane amount of luck (although that is a relative term), in some shop competition. Regardless of all this heart pounding action, and very real danger of falling asleep, I set forth south with MrX and littleones, in search of the famed Canberra model railway exhibition, held yearly at the Kayleen High School, or whatever that wanky new university name is. The exhibition was great, a large range of different layouts. Some terrific ideas for the layout I plan after our upcoming move of residence. The catering was, regretfully, deplorable at best. We got there at 1pm and had to pick from the vary scarce remains of items on sale. Not sure if it was a catering company with no experience, or they were just massively overwhelmed during the morning. I had to, and it pains me to admit it, settle for a Schweppes Lemonade for some sort of liquid refreshment. I mean, it was that or bloody Diet Coke, which we all know tastes like a cross between urine and mud - or so I am told. Finally, after a great day we started heading home. Much to my delight, MrX took the wrong road and we ended up on a 2 hour back road exploration to get back to the Federal Highway (only 26kms back out of Canberra). Arrival back home was at 11pm. Given my constant love of Manila's intensely busy atmosphere, and my growing up in the city, it surprises many that the country is where I want to be. I want nothing more than to move out bush and spend my life forever in complete silent relaxation.

BUT THEN I'M A BLOKE - SO WHAT SAY DO I HAVE.

Firstly I must point out that my delay in bringing this rant to you has been courtesy of a severe (actually a gross understatement) case of of the squirts, possibly brought on by the shit fed to me from people within the TFC company, but more likely from food poisoning or some type of bastard tummy bug.

That being concluded with, I do not wish to delay the conveying of my utter contempt, disgust, disgustofedness with ABS-CBN, or TFC (That Filipino Crap) in which they trade under in Australia, and quite possibly other unfortunate countries.

Now I have dealt with Telstra, Optus, OneTel, Foxtel, Citibank and the like, so I am no stranger to the crappiest of service that companies have decided fit to dish out. But at least these vile examples of customer service do not change the rules as things go along.

We know what we were told and we are not stupid enough to believe the constant changes were a simple case of misunderstanding. You may be dealing with a Filipino community here, but you are now bound by AUSTRALIAN BUSINESS STANDARDS.

I am so pissed off at this current moment in time that I hardly feel they deserve the pure honour with being the inaugeral recipient of the 'Aussie Aswang's' prestigious 'F*** You' award.

If their is a Tagalog word for bastard, please issue it to each other at your next business meeting.

There is an old saying that "Good things come to those who wait".

Now while it is a saying that usual fails to deliver, on the odd occasion it gets off it's arse parts and reveals itself in a truly spectacular way.

One of these rare occasions took place last Monday at Coogee when my dear mate Keith, after many years awaiting a GOOD thing, married someone truly great in Mjoy.

I had only met Mjoy once prior to the big event, but heard much of her from Keith prior to her arriving in Australia. The way Keith spoke, I knew he had finally found someone worthy of the wonderful person he is, while she was from Lucena (one of my favourite Philippine cities), which mean't she has to be terrific.

It was with considerable honour I was invited to the special event and the party following, to not only celebrating the wedding of a great mate, but also the welcoming of our new friend Mjoy.

I truly wish you all the very best for the future guys.

Twas just like the days of old, getting together for a party - food, drinkies and karaoke being the order of the day. The only difference was the following days without the gossiping ferals of old who chose to make the aftermath of every party a very miserable affair.

Some of the great people from the old days, mixed with a whole new selection of others. It was a day and evening to remember, and gave me a look back into why it can be sometimes be fun to be a part of a Filipino community, devoid of the rectal scum that penetrates where it is unwanted.

Highlight of the evening?
Well there was a few of these, but meeting Keith's new lady for the first time was certainly up there. As was catching up again wit Sonny Boy's family from all around the world.
Of course, copious amounts of Tanduay makes any evening extra special.

So sit bit, grab a box of tissues if you need, and enjoy all the sizzling antices of the biggest party of 2011 --- thus far.

Howdee all, as is the custom on Australia Day, we all set forth to Maroubra Beach to eat drink and be merry with our friends.
Certainly turned out be the hottest one that we have had yet, despite a strange fog that enveloped much of the area during most of the day.

VALE: BILL SULLIVAN

It is with immense sadness I advise of the passing away of my dear family friend Bill Sullivan.

Bill was always my driving force in the 'Philippine Railway Historical Society', he was always a very supportive friend and no more generous and kind hearted man has ever graced the planet.

A proper memorial will soon be written - for the moment I am just to upset to even think.

~~ KAPAMILYA FIESTA 2010 ~~
Pt 2

As the evening wore on, the doors were opened for people to flood the hall in anticipation of a great evenings entertainment, with a mixture of local entertainers and some well known celebrities from back in the Philippines.

Dennis Padilla opened the show with a couple of hours endless promoting of ABS-CBN and other companies, seperate by brief periods of entertainment and competitions that lead to more advertising.

Derek Ramsay also starred on the night, along with his extremely stunning girlfriend Angelica.

Cynthia, Rajin (yawning) and Latrell (looks already asleep) watch the evenings entertainment.

Our mate Bernie during a competition with Dennis Padilla during one of the competitions.

But most important of the evening, from the aswangs personal opinion, was Ms Angelica Panganiban. One of the cutest that the Philippines has to offer, she sung, was funny and even tried her best to imitate Aussie's.

The night was complete.

~~ KAPAMILYA FILIPINO FIESTA ~~

Part 1

Starting a little late in the day at 4pm, it was a reluctant 'Aussie Aswang' that dragged his arse parts off the couch and across the suburbs to Randwick Racecourse for the ABS-CBN organised Kapamilya Fiesta.
Despite our early arrival, the queue for the main entertainment was already huge. Not to surprising with the delicious Angelica Panganiban making up part of the all star lineup, that also included Derek Ramsey (Angelica's boyfriend and natural enemy of anyone who wished they were :-) ), Gabby Conception and some somewhat lesser known names, at least to me.

Outside from the main entertainment, which really was mostly a 4 hour advertisment for ABS-CBN and any other company that forked out some pesos to put it on, were a number of stalls selling everything from Pepsi to Balikbayan boxes.
Twas here that you started bumping into nearly all the Filipino community you have ever known, the good, the bad and the pondscum. Within four hours, with a few notable exceptions, I had managed to catch up with a vast cross section of people from my last 14 years in the community. In most cases this was welcome.

Surprisingly, attendance of the fiesta was a very easy affair.

Free and easy parking at the racecourse had us dumping the car and inside within minutes. None of the usual bollocking around that goes with events like this.

Good lord - you would think it was a U2 concert.

Head over to the happy people on the registration desk and sign in to have your chance to drool over Angelica - or indeed Derek and Gabby if so inclined.

The queue for the toilet, following excessive consumption of chicken sticks and Siopao, was pretty hard going.

This lovely attendee must have been expecting rain.

Tin Tin was wondering what all the commotion was about, but was more than satisfield with her latest toy.

Yes, well you don't just come to see the food.

Our mate, and fellow store owner, Maurice is extremely busy serving on the Pasalubong stand.

Class 1 Green in 1975 - Spot the Aussie Aswang

~~ HAPPY BIRTHDAY SANS SOUCI ~~

PUBLIC SCHOOL

Besides a couple of brief visits last year for #2 son, I have not been to my old public school at Sans Souci since I last left in 1980. Although I had often wanted to go back and remember those old days, the opportunity never arose until last Saturday.

Twas on this day that the school was to have its 125th anniversary and, with thanks to the wonders of Facebook, numerous old school friends arranged to meet up at the west end of the playground, all of whom I had not seen for over three decades.

What better way to start than at my childhood home in Poplar Street, the plan being to retrace the same path to school that I used many hundreds of times in the 70s.

The old house has changed a fair bit, the garage looking like it has been brought foward, the fish pond and waterfall long gone, along with the old cherry tree I used to play under and gardens in the middle of the grass where a large frog regularly hid.

The rest of the street, excepting one rebuilt house and one or two renos, remained just the same as it did back then. After all these years it came as quite a surprise that more rebuilds had not occured.
One original house near Jamison Lane was for sale and, for a brief moment, I dreamed of returning home to Poplar Street - at east until the reality of cost sunk in.

As I approach the school crossing on Rocky Point Road I start having all the memories roll in.

Many was the morning I stood here with David Verrell (near neighbour) trying to get a few trucks to blow their horns while I was enroute to school.
Today you would be more likely to attract a raised finger than a quick toot on the horn, but in those days people were more civilized and after a few trucks we would move on for our day of class.

One thing that changes is your perspective of size. This is where we went to kindergarden and, at least to a five year old, this area looked huge and scary.

Nowdays it looks so small in comparison and, although it did pass the swinging of the cat test, and such trial with a large dog would surely be messy.
My #2 son Scott is seen playing around in the same location I did at his same age.

A pretty bloody great moment.

Two of my closest mates at primary school reunited 32 years later, although looking somewhat more the worse for wear after this extended time.

David Kirkland, seen here with Gary and Scott, for many years has been the only Sans Souci contact I have had.

David was the SSPS 'Doctor Who Fanclub' President during my time there. I still remember meetings, in the library I think, where we would get photocopies of all things Doctor Who.

Twas a stinking hot day and the shade of the building a welcome relief.

With the heat becoming something of an issue, and the whinging kids even more so, we headed to the old school hall to view the historical display set up within.

While our group found photos of ourselves pretty easily, one 83 year old lady made our find pale into insignificance - seeing a shot of herself in a class photograph.

The time capsule we buried was now under the gardens to the left of the flag.

For some reason the school was unable to find it, this being a huge disappointment for our years as it was the major event of the day.

The old demountable classrooms where I am pretty sure we had religion classes.

However today they are used for art and Greek classes.

Here came another one of those long forgotten memories, this time that of my sneaking into a friends religion class. Can't remember the religion, or even which friend, but the teacher never got wise to it.

The front of the kindergarden part of the school where the terrible, terrible news that Santa was not real was revealed to me. I still believe until I went home and the whole horrid lie was exposed by my parents.

Much time was spent around this old sand pit as a youngster, so it stands to reason that while Gary and myself were walking around it, many different memoried came to the fore.

Besides the obvious building of sand castles, I remember these black and orange flying insects that used to be in abundance here and caught by the kids - who subsequently tortured them in many a different way. We called them pumpkin bugs, their real name still unknown to me now.

Then Gary brought up how we would rub stones together to get a powder which, when dampened, could be used as a sort of paint.

Oh Ohhhhhhhhh - Incoming Bad Memory

While walking around the back of the primary school, which admitedly was actually blocked off and not really supposed to be accessed, we were spotted by none other than the current principle of the school who came down to inform us, 32 years later, that we were being naughty again :-)

Thankfully we were spared detention and/or reactivation of the earlier shown cane once it become apparent our reasons for being there.

Sadly it all came to an end far to soon, a mixture of heat, no time capsule, no entry into our old classrooms and the reality of our current lives meaning many of us had to go. It has been well over a year, maybe nearly two, since the troubles that plagued my life from the human vermin that resides in Eastlakes., It was certainly a dark time as they spread their web of lies to any ignorant prick who would listen.

With time their attitudes, bullshit and carrying on has become clear to all in the Filipino community and have, in their own way, become somewhat famous, for all the wrong reasons.

As self-righteous as you could imagine, the truth has unvieled itself slowly and to this day hatred and fighting follows their every day life - yes the grapevine is alive and well.

Today our reformed, and much stronger, group of friends sat around and discussed the comedy of errors that is their life, and how our happiness has all grown stronger without their evil polluting our lives.

You look back at those days and collectively wonder WTF was I thinking being involved with such demented pond scum? Why did you waste precious seconds on bowel wastage, seconds you will never get back?
Then you see their continued crap and realise why!!!!!!

~~ PHILIPPINE RAILWAY HISTORICAL SOCIETY ~~

Above is the display during last weekends party.
Our society is in the process of changing it's charter and will now be raising money for poor kids living around Manila instead of for the railway museum that was being set up there.

The charity, Mission Ministeries Project, helps feed, cloth, provide medical attention, schooling and finding employment for these kids and was considered a more rewarding project to support.

Donations to this worthy project will hopefully be taken from July 2010.

It was the biggest event since my 40th when last Saturday we threw a surprise birthday party for Maria after a few weeks of intensive planning :-)

Howdee one and all,

It has indeed been a long time since I last posted to this group.

Much has been happening in life and this has consumed much of the time I have had for blog site work. I am still in the middle of it, but need a bit of a distraction to ensure it does not drive me totally Eastlakes crazy.

Just recently returned from the beautiful Philippines for the second year running. This was our fifth trip and saw us travel on down to Bicol for a few days. Photographs from that trip will feature heavily here for a while as I share a lot of what we saw.

Our society, the 'Philippine Railway Historical Society' is busy legally changing where we send our help to. Previously this was to another railway group in Manila who were going to use it to restore old railway rollingstock and set up a museum.

Since my return however, the board has unanimously voted for my proposal to instead send donations to a Philippine charity set up to help the poor kids in Manila. This charity, which provides food, clothing, medical, dental, schooling and emloyment help has done so much for so many and we feel our help will make more of a difference in these peoples lives than our previous reason for being.

More details of the change and the charity will be forthcoming when we finalise it all.

Of course the usual work of the society continues, the magazine, the membership, the research - however on top of this I am trying to do a railfans guide to the Philippines.

Apart from this, I am just enjoying a far quieter life with the very few in the community that can really be trusted and, by very few, I mean VERY FEW.

The van still is around, now owned by MrX's brother and used for his electrical business. So after all these years I still regularly travel in it.

Hmmmm a tad late really, we had already been in there for years and may already expecting asbestosis due to neglegence on their part.

Sorry it has been a while since I last posted. After the last attack by the Eastlakes Ferrals I sort of couldn't have been bothered with the local community for a while.

It did give me time to reflect and consider all the accusations that one garden knome has made about my apparent lying and where this may have come from. I mean these are people I have tried to do nothing but help, yet when things don't go their way, they instantly have to turn around a abuse you, accuse you of things that just aren't true, and otherwise do whatever it takes to boost their ego in the community.

It was after a few extended talks with the kinder in the Filipino community here that I have realised that there may actually be some basis to what they are saying.
What is my actions, my thoughts and my words had all been based on those of someone I thought was a close friend who could be trusted?
What if this trusted friend fed me with misinformation, knowing that I would act on it, knowing that I would cause the trouble they themselves were trying to cause.

WHAT IF I WAS JUST BEING USED???

WHEN YOU COME DOWN TO IT, WHEN YOU REALLY TRACE BACK ALL THE LIES AND RUMOURS, IT ALL SEEMED TO COME TO THE SAME PERSON!

To be honest with myself, I never actually witnessed most of the stuff that I was fed.

1- Wifes cheating on husbands.
2- Boyfriends cheating on girlfriends.
3- People whinging about quality of food.
4- People using hospitality then calling them low class.

So what if, just what if, both myself and my website was actually used as someone elses tool in their campain of hate, knowing that I hate liars and knowing that I would go on my own personal crusade against them if I was to thing this was what they were doing.

I find myself with a reasonable sized list of people who I used to think were the most evil of all, Mascot Drive excepted as they have already proven this, and an equal sized list of how these thoughts stemmed from the comments of just one or two in the Filipino community of Botany Bay (at the time).

As the realisation continues to flow into my mind, I find myself more and more relieved at the truth which gradually sets me free. But alas, while it is way to late to change some of these things around, I am now a far more wiser person when it comes to dealing with this sort of person.
Never again will I put the thoughts/rumours/gossip of one person above all others. Never again will I implicitly trust anyone in the community who masquerades as a friend.

She now be living and working in Beirut (Lebanon) and finally heading towards the life she has always wanted.

Hello all and sundry and welcome to the first of a two part look at our trip to Bowral and Berrima on Monday.

What started out as a sunny day slowly declined into an overcast but pleasant one, later including a few showers. Still nothing was going to dampen a great day in that wonderful part of the country.

Lunch was had it a lovely Berrima park while my more recent fetish for antique shops was also attended to while driving around, one actually netting me 288 back issues of a very interesting international railway magazine.

Coming home we followed the line to Picton where we popped in to see Colonel and Anna's new place of residence, before the first of many time trials were carried out between there and our home.

Sydney played host to high winds and a severe dust storm today.
Have yet to hear of someone who can remember such an event happening here in the past, while many likened it to the huge one in Melbourne in the 90s.

Personally I have not seen this much shit floated in the air since the Eastlakes scum last got together for a chat and most of Sydney hopes it wont happen again to soon.
Streets, cars, houses and even pets are all now coated in a fine orange/brown dust and, with rain not predicted for some time, it shall stay that way for a while.

The first three shots is of a China Southern Airlines jet during an aborted landing.

After circling and coming back the passengers were treated to a very hair raising and rough landing.

There is an Air Canada jet at Sydney Terminal - Trust me.

PIECES AGAIN!

It seems to be an all to frequent event, Botany Bay Filipinos, offspring off the rails, nobody gives much of a toss - afterall it interferes with their 'keeping up of appearances' in the view of the same community who don't give a shit.

Again I open my life to help these discarded pieces of the community and again, due to their utter arrogance and inabilty to comprehend the complete stupidity of their actions, the Botany Bay Filipino community start uttering rumours ands comment.

They look at you in public like your garbage.

They scowl at you like you are beneath contempt.

The ridicule you to others like you are trash.

All in a pathetic and futile attempt to cover up the bed they have made for themselves, the mistakes that have led them on their arrogant course of self destruction.

The 'Philippine Community Herald' recently had a editorial about helping the people back home.
The editor may as well talk to a brick wall as talk to some of the people I have had to deal with - sadly they don't give a shit about anything beyond their own egos.
